The Garden Party print is the perfect way to bring a touch of the outdoors inside and compliment any table scape when celebrating with loved ones. This opulent garden print has been hand drawn and designed straight out of our studio in Paddington, Sydney by our lively Graphic Designer, Chelsea.
What is your design process?
My process often changes and is definitely not linear. Every time is different. Sometimes you can get it the first time, and other times it can be slower and require frequent revisions and feedback.
There is usually a group discussion when briefing for a new design. From here, I will begin researching and searching for inspiration. During this phase it involves creating some mood boards, finding colours and doing some sketches. I will then choose my favourite concept and present that to the rest of the team. When we are happy with the design, we move onto printing sample. If the samples come back and we're all happy we close it off.
How did you get into graphic design?
I have always lived and breathed art. While at art school I discovered my passion was for illustration and worked on developing my style. I went onto studying Visual Communication and Design at Newcastle.
How would you describe your design style?
I would describe my style as clean and minimalist. When illustrating I specialise in fine lined, controlled art.
How does a fragrance inspire your design?
As a designer, I can find inspiration through things I see, smell and touch. Fragrance in particular can bring to mind different memories which can be a big inspiration.
A recommendation for a book, a podcast, a song or a movie:
A song i'm enjoying at the moment is Vintage by Blu DeTiger (Flight Facilities Remix). Can't get enough of the boppy disco beat!
Favourite thing about working for Burchgrove Home?
Aside from being completely and utterly obsessed with the products, I love my team [my work wives!]. Working in such a collaborative environment with such a creative team truly makes nothing we ever do feel like work.
